SGB operates a powerful tool for managing costly electric peak demand. It can shift numerous consumer electric loads off the system peak by delaying device start times using consumer-specified criteria or by changing thermostat set-points. By curtailing load or tracking these delayed-start devices in a reservation pool, we can provide grid operators with valuable real-time ramping, scheduling, and load shaping, plus smooth renewable resource fluctuations. We can sell these resources into the wholesale market, just as if we were a power generator.
